Confessional: I’m a Geek Roleplayer

Changeling the Dreaming, Vampire the Masquerade, Werewolf the Apocalypse, Big Eyes Small Mouth, Dungeons and Dragons and so many more. That is right, I am a geeked out table top roleplayer. I love the storytelling, the creative processes, the mental stimulation, the opportunities to stop and see life problems from a different perspective, and all the other wonderful aspects of roleplaying.

However -not surprisingly- I have gotten many stern warnings about the e v i l s of roleplaying games from many of my fellow Christians. Personally I think we give too many t.v. Christian personalities a voice in our lives, and instead of doing any research ourselves, we play the lazy American and just believe whatever Bible Thumpin’ Billy tells us simply because he’s a preacher on the tea-vea. I means seriously how many awesome experiences and opportunities to reach out are we missing because we are locking ourselves away from something that we’ve been told is bad?

Stop being lazy! Do your homework. Measure the issue against the Word and take it before God. If it is something that you need to avoid, then…avoid it! But this is turning into a rant I didn’t intend for it to be.

What I wanted to share was this cool and insightful site on roleplaying games. What they are, there purpose, dealing with urban (sometimes Christian) myths about them, etc. If you know someone who is roleplaying, check out this site before you judge too hastily.
