Quick Updates: The Quiet, Wrapping Up, Fatboy Elite

By Michael Brewer

The Quiet
I woke up at 0555 this morning to virtual silence. I rolled out of my coffin rack and walked around in utter disbelief. The berthing lounge was empty and silent. Nobody was running around screaming and acting like over-sized children. Even the ventilation system was quieter than usual.

The quiet wasn’t strange or disconcerting, but rather quite peaceful and well overdue. I couldn’t help but whisper a “Thank You, Lord, for this moment,” before climbing back into my rack to claim my last half-hour of sleep.

Wrapping Up
It has been a long time out on the waters. This particular period has felt different from all the rest; a little more stressful, a little more demanding, and -at times- quite ridiculous. But we’re in the home stretch, and it feels good to know that I’ll be with my family again soon.

Fatboy Elite
Another semi-annual Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA), and I have passed -but only just. This PFA was a lot more difficult than my past PFA’s. I realized that I need to work on getting in better shape.

I have approximately six months until my next PFA and I am going to strive to be able to blow it out of the water! Plus I want to look like David Hasselhoff(sp?) in his Knight Rider days…without the hair of course.
